Find the volume of a rectangular prism, the length of which is 5 dm, the width is 2 dm

Find the volume of a rectangular prism, the length of which is 5 dm, the width is 2 dm, and the height is 7 dm. Find the area of its lateral and full surface.

A straight rectangular prism is also called a rectangular parallelepiped. The volume of the prism is equal to the product of its height and the area of the base:

V = So * h = a * b * h;

Let’s calculate the volume:

V = 5 * 2 * 7 = 70 (dm3);

The area of the lateral surface of the prism is equal to the product of the perimeter of the base and the height of the prism:

Sside = Po * h;

Po = 2 (5 + 2) = 20 (dm);

Side = 20 * 7 = 140 (dm2);

Find the total surface area:

S full = S side + 2 * So = 140 + 2 * 10 = 160 (dm2);

Answer: V = 70 dm3; Side = 140 dm2; S total = 160 dm2.
