Why is the stability of biogeocenosis provided by biological diversity? explain with an example

Biogeocenosis – the totality of all interconnections of living things, as well as the influence on them of various environmental factors within the designated area. The stability of the biogeocenosis is provided by branched food chains, the presence of which, in turn, depends on the species diversity of the territory. If there are many species, then the food chains are branched, and, in the event of the disappearance of one of the species, the chain will not be interrupted, since the vacant place will be occupied by a species with a similar ecological role. An example of a branched chain of grazing is phytoplankton – zooplankton – fish – predatory fish – birds of prey.
