| Metal oxides can react with:
a) simple substances (non-metals and other metals);
CuO + H2 = Cu + H2O
b) acidic oxides;
CaO + CO2 = CaCO3
c) alkaline oxides (only amphoteric metal oxides);
Na2O + Al2O3 = 2NaAlO2
d) acids;
CaO + 2HCl = CaCl2 + H2O
e) alkalis (only oxides of amphoteric metals).
ZnO + 2NaOH = Na2ZnO2 + H2O
