AB = √ (xb – xa) ^ 2.
Moreover, taking into account that √a ^ 2 = a, we get:

Let’s substitute the values into the found formula:
AB = √ (xb – xa) ^ 2 = (xb – xa) = 43 – (-39) = 43 + 39 = 82.
