Find the perimeter, denoting it with a capital letter P. The perimeter is the sum of all four sides of the rectangle:
P = 12 cm + 4 cm + 12 cm + 4 cm = 16 cm + 16 cm = 32 cm.
Second way to find the perimeter:
P = 12 cm * 2 + 4 cm * 2 = 24 cm + 8 cm = 32 cm.
Area is width times length:
S = 12 cm * 4 cm = 48 cm2.
