| A 20A fuse is included in the mains. Determine what the minimum resistance must be for an electrical appliance connected to a 220V outlet in order for the network to continue to work?
To determine the minimum resistance of an electrical appliance, we use Ohm’s law:
I = U / R, where:
I is the current in the network, A;
U is the voltage in the network, V;
R – network resistance, Ohm;
From the Ohm’s law formula it follows that:
R = U / I = 220/20 = 11 Ohm;
Answer: the minimum resistance at which the fuse does not blow and the network continues to work is 11 ohms.
