As the first step, we calculate the area of the larger square with a side of 7 centimeters:
S = 7 * 7 = 49 (cm2).
Subtract the area of the cut-out square from the resulting product:
49 – 25 = 24 (cm2).
Answer: the area of the figure left after cutting out the square was 24 cm2.
