A body weighing 2kg is thrown vertically upward at a speed of 30m / s. Determine the kinetic and potential energy of the body at a height of 5m.
Given: m = 2kg V = 30 m / s h = 5m
Find: Ek -? Ep -?
Solution: E = mv ^ 2/2 = 2 * 30 ^ 2/2 = 900 (J) Ep = mgh = 2 * 10 * 5 = 100 (J) E = Ek + En => Ek = E – Ep = 900 – 100 = 800 (J)
Answer: En = 100 J; Ek = 800 J.
