A Brief Chronology of the Crusades.

There are 9 main crusades to the East:

1) The First Crusade (1096-1099, the emergence of the Crusader states and the capture of Jerusalem);

2) Second Crusade (1147-1149, loss of Edessa);

3) the Third Crusade (1189-1192, loss of Jerusalem);

4) Fourth Crusade (1202-1204);

5) Fifth Crusade (1217-1221);

6) Sixth Crusade (1228-1229);

7) Seventh Crusade (1248-1254);

8) The Eighth Crusade (1270);

9) Ninth Crusade (1271-1272).
