These are lysosomes. These are membrane organelles of the cell that perform the digestive and protective function of the cell. They absorb various compounds and break them down into smaller structures. This is possible due to the presence of digestive enzymes in the lysosomes. Also, these organelles protect the cell. They attack foreign particles and destroy them using the same enzymes. Substances that have been prepared by lysosomes are used by mitochondria to oxidize and obtain the energy that the cell needs.
