Babylon has been the cultural capital of Mesopotamia for thousands of years. The conquerors only conquered the city without destroying its significance. The very importance of Babylon began with how the disparate city-states on the banks of the Euphrates and Tigris were united by different kings and rulers who succeeded each other. Initially, the Assyrians can be considered the first conquerors of Babylon. However, behind them the city was conquered by the Persians, the Greeks, and many other strong armies of the region.
