A copper piece with a volume of 200 dm3 is immersed in oil. What is the strength of Archimedes.

Problem data: V (volume of taken copper part) = 200 dm3 (in SI system V = 0.2 m3).

Reference values: g (acceleration due to gravity) ≈ 10 m / s2; ρн (oil density) = 800 kg / m3.

We calculate the Archimedes force acting on the taken copper part by the formula: Fa = ρн * g * V.

Let’s make a calculation: Fa = 800 * 10 * 0.2 = 1600 N (1.6 kN).

Answer: An Archimedes force of 1.6 kN will act on the taken copper part when immersed in oil.
