A cyclist left point A to point B at a speed of 12 kilometers per hour, and half an hour later another cyclist followed him, driving 14 kilometers at an hour and arriving at point B simultaneously with the first cyclist. Find the distance between A and B.

Let X be the distance between settlements, T – the time it took for the second cyclist to reach the destination.
Let’s write the equation for the first cyclist:
12 * 0.5 + 12 * T = X
Let’s write the equation for the second cyclist:
14 * T = X, then
6 + 12 * T = 14 * T
6 = 2 * T
T = 3 hours, then
X = 3 * 14 = 42 km.
Answer: 42 km.
