A haulage truck with a moss of 40 kg moves at a speed of 30 km / h and vertically delivers a load of 10 kg to it. Determine the speed the carriage will move.

Task data: mt (trolley weight) = 40 kg; Vт (initial trolley speed) = 30 km / h; mg (mass of the load falling on the cart) = 10 kg.

The speed of the trolley after a load falls on it is expressed from the equality (we use the law of conservation of momentum): mt * Vt = V * (mt + mg), whence V = mt * Vt / (mt + mg).

Let’s calculate: V = 40 * 30 / (40 + 10) = 1200/50 = 24 km / h.

Answer: After the drop of the load, the cart will move at a speed of 24 km / h.
