A point body begins to move from a state of rest and moves uniformly along the OX axis along a smooth horizontal surface. Determine the value of the projection on the OX axis of the acceleration of this body, if after 4 s of motion the coordinate of the body has become equal to 4 m.
Given:
X (4) = 4 meters – the coordinate of the body at time t;
t = 4 seconds;
X0 = 0 – initial coordinate of the body;
V0 = 0 is the initial velocity of the body.
It is required to determine the acceleration of the body a (m / s ^ 2).
The movement of the body in time t will be equal to:
S = X (4) – X0 = 4 – 0 = 4 meters.
Then the acceleration of the body is equal to:
a = 2 * S / t ^ 2 = 2 * 4/4 ^ 2 = 2/4 = 0.5 m / s ^ 2.
Answer: the acceleration of the body (as well as its projection on the X-axis) is equal to 0.5 m / s ^ 2.
