A portion of sugar weighing 50 g was dissolved in 200 g of water. Calculate the mass fraction of sugar in the prepared solution.
1) Find the mass of the solution using the following formula:
m (solution) = m (sugar) + m (water)
m (solution) = 50 + 200 = 250 (g)
2. find the mass fraction of sugar
w (sugar) = m (sugar) / m (solution)
w (sugar) = 50/250 = 0.2 * 100 = 20%
