The new mass fraction of salt is 3.45% * 2.5 = 8.625%.
There was salt in solution: (3.45%: 100%) * 250 g = 8.625 g.
Salt became: (8.625 + X), and (8.625 + X): (250 + X) = 0.08625. Let’s solve the equation and find the salt addition:
(8.625 + X) = 0.08625 * (250 + X),
(1 – 0.08625) * X = 21.5625 – 8.625,
X = 14.16 g.
