A ray was drawn inside the right angle. Calculate the degree measure for each of the angles obtained if one of them is 89 degrees larger than the other.

Based on the fact that the right angle is 90 degrees, we make an equation with one unknown “x”:

x + 89 = 90;

We leave the “x” on the left side of the equation, and move the numerical value to the right (not forgetting to change the plus value of the number to negative when transferring through the equal sign).

x = 90 – 89 = 1 (degree).

Answer: Of the angles obtained, one angle is 1 degree, the second angle is 89 degrees.
