A rectangle with sides of 3 cm and 6 cm was divided into 3 equal rectangles. Calculate the perimeter of each one.

A rectangle with sides of 6 cm and 3 cm can be divided into two equal rectangles in two ways.

1. If the rectangle is divided, then three equal rectangles with sides of 3 cm and 2 cm are formed. Knowing that the perimeter is the sum of four sides (the opposite of which are equal), we calculate:

2 (3 + 2) = 2 * 5 = 10 (cm) – the perimeter of each of the resulting rectangles.

2. If the rectangle was divided as in Figure 2, then three equal rectangles with sides of 1 cm and 6 cm were formed. Calculate the perimeter:

2 (1 + 6) = 2 * 7 = 14 (cm) – the perimeter of each of the resulting rectangles.
