A rectangular plot adjoins the house, the length of which is 10m. From 3 sides the plot is fenced with a length of 130m. What is the area of the site?

Answer: the area of ​​the plot is 600 m².

1. From the conditions we know that the site has the shape of a rectangle, which means that the opposite sides of it are equal to each other. It is also known that the side adjacent to the house has a length of 10 m, which means that the opposite side of the site, but already entering the hedge, is also 10 m.Let us subtract this value from the length of the hedge:

130 – 10 = 120 m.

The result will be twice the length of the longer side. That is, the large side is equal to:

120/2 = 60 m.

2. Determine the area of ​​the site by multiplying the values ​​of the larger and smaller sides:

60 * 10 = 600 m².
