These countries have brought to the world many different inventions, great scientists and scientific discoveries. Italy made a great contribution by the fact that it was in this country that the parachute, glasses, compass and thermometer were invented. England brought the world a pencil, a microscope, a knitting machine and a toilet with a flush mechanism. Germany gave us a globe, a pocket watch, an alarm clock and a collar. France gave the world bottle corks, a pomegranate, and an hourglass. These are small but important inventions. Besides them, these countries have made many great discoveries.
