Plants every year adapt to the changing seasons of the year, and each plant species does this differently. The main adaptation is to avoid the cold and adapt to it. It’s not for nothing that trees throw off their leaves in autumn – this is also a way to fight the cold. Falling leaves make it possible to reduce evaporation and retain moisture, so plants that shed leaves grow more on the north side.
