An old typewritten page should have 30 lines but 60 characters each. Determine the information volume in bits.

To calculate the information volume of a message, you need to know the number of characters that will be stored on one page:

30 x 60 = 1800 characters.

The information volume of a message depends on the encoding, or rather, on the number of bits that one character in it is quoted with.

For ASCII encoding, encoding is implemented using 7 bits, therefore the information volume of the message in this case will be: 1800 x 7 = 12600 bits.

If we consider the KOI-8 or WIN-1251 encodings, then one character is encoded using 8 bits: 1800 x 8 = 14400 bits.

For UNICODE encoding (16 bits): 1800 x 16 = 28800 bits.
