Proteins and DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) are high molecular weight compounds (polymers). They consist of or billions of monomers, structural units that repeat at regular intervals. The difference between them is that proteins contain amino acids, and DNA (like RNA) consists of nucleotides (a monomer, which, in turn, includes ribose or deoxyribose – depending on the type of nucleic acid, nitrogenous base and phosphoric acid). These are completely different compounds.
