Arrange the inner layers of the Earth in order from the center of the planet.

Internal structure of the earth

  • Core.
  • Mantle.
  • Bark.

The core is subdivided into internal and external.

Inner hard core. According to modern data of scientists, it consists mainly of iron and nickel with an admixture of other elements. The temperature in the center of the core is calculated to be about 6,000 degrees Celsius. Due to the colossal pressure, despite the enormous temperature, the material of the core is estimated by scientists closer to a solid state, therefore, the core is divided into internal and external.

Outer liquid core. Consists of the same materials (iron and nickel), but is in a liquid state. It is in the outer core that processes take place that form the planet’s magnetic field. Without a magnetic field, our planet was something similar to modern Venus, a lifeless dry and hot world.

Mantle. It is divided in turn into the mantle itself (an extensive layer, closer to the center) and the upper mantle (a thin layer at the border with the earth’s crust). The composition of the mantle is predominantly formed by silicates. The mantle is a rather viscous substance, but it is on this viscous component that tectonic plates “float”.

Earth’s crust. Very thin surface layer of the Earth (relative to its overall dimensions). The earth’s crust can be conditionally divided into continental (approximately 30 to 70 kilometers) and oceanic (6 to 10 kilometers). The earth’s crust and the thin, uppermost part of the mantle are called in one word – the lithosphere. The continental crust is formed from the following layers: sedimentary and volcanic, granite, basalt. The oceanic crust consists of a fairly massive sedimentary layer, and then of a layer of basaltic rocks. It must be understood that due to plate tectonics, the layers in the earth’s crust are not homogeneous, in places crumpled or discontinuous and mixed with each other.
