Attitude of the Slavophiles and Westernizers to the autocracy.

Both the Slavophiles and the Westernizers had a negative attitude towards the autocracy, but there were fundamental disagreements between them about the future development of the country without a monarch. The opinion of the Slavophils was to organize such a structure of power, which was the Zemsky Sobor under the first Russian rulers. In this case, they believed, all segments of the population could influence government policy. Westerners insistently advocated the creation of a parliament, as in Europe, and envisioned concrete democratic transformations in Russian society.
