The term that defines the positive electrode of the battery is the anode, through which an electric current passes into a certain device. Many believe that current is produced by a flow of positive charges. In fact, carriers of negative charges move with metal conductors. They are directed towards the positive pole of the place where the electric current is generated. The negative electrode is called the cathode.
