Butanol reacts with: a) NaOH; b) H2O; c) Na;

The name butanol is deciphered as follows: – “buta” – four, that is, a derivative of butane; – the ending “ol” means that it is alcohol and it has a hydroxyl group -OH. Alcohols exhibit weak properties of acids – they can react with active metals, which displace hydrogen from the hydroxyl group. But they do not react with bases, even active metals. 2 С4Н9ОН + 2 Na = 2 С4Н9ОNa + Н2 (sodium butanate and hydrogen, substitution reaction). Butanol does not react with water, but, like all alcohols, dissolves in it.
