| The methane combustion reaction is described by the following chemical reaction equation:
CH4 + 2O2 = CO2 + 2H2O;
It takes two moles of oxygen to burn one mole of methane.
The molar volume of an ideal gas is constant and occupies a fixed volume of 22.4 liters per mole, regardless of the composition.
Since oxygen requires a double molar volume, its volume will be twice the volume of methane and will be 5 x 2 = 10 liters.
