Calculate the amount of substance and the mass of copper, which is formed during the reduction

Calculate the amount of substance and the mass of copper, which is formed during the reduction of copper (II) oxide with a mass of 16 g with hydrogen.

The reduction reaction of copper (II) oxide with hydrogen is described by the following chemical reaction equation:

CuO + H2 = Cu + H2O;

Find the amount of substance in 16 grams of copper oxide.

M CuO = 64 + 16 = 80 grams / mol;

N CuO = 16/80 = 0.2 mol;

One mole of copper oxide forms one mole of copper.

N Cu = N CuO = 0.2 mol;

The mass of this amount of copper will be:

m Cu = 0.2 x 64 = 12.8 grams;
