| Calculate the equivalent resistance of a circuit consisting of two conductors connected in parallel with a resistance of 20 ohms each.
When two conductors are connected, their conductivities G are added in parallel, where:
G = 1 / R.
In this case:
G + G = 1 / R + 1 / R = (R + R) / (R x R) = (2 x R) / R².
Whence the equivalent resistance will be equal to:
R² / (2 x R) = (20 x 20) / (2 x 20) = 400/40 = 10 (Ohm).
Answer: the equivalent resistance of this circuit will be 10 ohms.
