| The calculation of the salt equivalence factor is made according to the formula:
fЭ = 1 / n (Me) • B (Me) = 1 / n (A) • B (A)
n (Me) is the number of metal atoms (index in the chemical formula of the salt); B (Me) is the valency of the metal; n (A) is the number of acid residues; B (A) is the valence of the acid residue.
Calculation for metal:
fЭ (ВаНS2) = 1/1 • 2 = 1/2.
Acid residue calculation:
fЭ (ВаНS2) = 1/2 • 1 = 1/2.
For BaSO4 and BaOHCl, the equivalent will be 1.
fЭ = 1/1 • 1 = 1.
