Calculate the mass fraction of sulfuric acid in the solution, for the preparation of which 50 milliliters of water and 6 grams of sulfuric acid were taken.

The solution consists of two components. Dissolved substance and solvent.

The density of water is 1 gram / cm3. Therefore 50 ml. water weighs 50 grams.

The weight of the solution is 50 + 6 = 56 grams.

Let’s calculate the mass fraction of the acid.

To do this, divide the mass of the acid by the mass of the solution.

C substance = 6/56 = 0.107 = 10.7%;

In a similar way, we calculate the mass fraction of the solvent.

With solvent = 50/56 = 0.893 = 89.3%;

Checking: C substance + C solvent = 10.7 + 89.3 = 100%;
