Calculate the mass of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) required to obtain 89.6L of ammonia
February 16, 2021 | education
| Let’s calculate the chemical amount of ammonia. For this purpose, we divide its volume by the standard volume of 1 mole of gas (filling 22.40 liters)
N NH3 = 89.6 / 22.4 = 4 mol;
Calculate the weight of 4 mol of ammonium hydroxide.
To do this, we multiply the chemical (molar) amount of a substance by its molar (atomic) mass.
M NH4OH = 14 + 4 + 16 + 1 = 35 grams / mol;
The weight of ammonium hydroxide will be:
m NH4OH = 35 x 4 = 140 grams;
