Calculate the mass of ammonium nitrate obtained by the interaction of 448 liters of ammonia and a solution

Calculate the mass of ammonium nitrate obtained by the interaction of 448 liters of ammonia and a solution of nitric acid, if the mass fraction of the yield of ammonium nitrate from the theoretically possible is 89% NH3 + HNO3 = NH4NO3

NH3 + HNO3 = NH4NO3

Let’s calculate the chemical amount of ammonia: n = V / Vm, where Vm = 22.4 dm ^ 3 * mol ^ (- 1)

n (NH3) = 448 / 22.4 = 20 mol.

n (NH4NO3) = n (NH3) = 20 mol, since the ratio of the reaction coefficients is 1: 1.

Calculate the theoretically possible mass of ammonium nitrate: m = n * M

m (NH4NO3) = 20 * (14 * 2 + 1 * 4 + 16 * 3) = 20 * 80 = 1600 gr.

The mass fraction of the output is calculated by the formula: n = m (practical) / m (theoretical), therefore m (practical) = n * m (theoretical)

m (practical) (NH4NO3) = 1600 * 0.89 = 1424 gr.
