The reaction of potassium with water is described by the following chemical reaction equation.
K + H2O = KOH + ½ H2;
For one mole of potassium, one mole of alkali and half a mole of hydrogen are formed.

M K = 39 grams / mol;
N K = 7.8 / 39 = 0.2 mol;
Determine the mass of 0.2 mol KOH.
M KOH = 39 + 16 + 1 = 56 grams / mol;
