| Calculate the mass of potassium sulfate and the volume of water required to prepare 1500 g of a solution with a mass fraction of K3SO4 5%.
The mass of the solution is 1 500 grams;
To find the mass of salt, it is necessary to multiply its mass fraction by the mass of the solution.
m salt = 1,500 x 0.05 = 75 grams;
To find the mass of water, subtract the mass of salt from the mass of the solution:
m water = 1,500 – 75 = 1,425 grams;
The density of water is 1 gram / cm3;
The volume of water will be 1,425 x 1 = 1,425 ml.
Check: 1,425 + 75 = 1,500;
