To determine the mass of sugar, we will use the formula for percentage concentration.
W (in-va) = m (in-va) / m (solution) • 100%.
The amount of sugar needed to make the syrup.
m (sugar) = W (sugar) • m (solution) / 100% = 3% • 250 g / 100% = 7.5 g.
Mass of water.
m (H2O) = m (solution) – m (in-va) = 250 g – 7.5 g = 242.5 g.
To prepare a given syrup, 7.5 g of sugar and 242.5 g of water are needed.
