| Let us denote through variable A the length of our rectangle, equal to 4 cm, through variable B we denote the width of our rectangle, and through variable P we denote the perimeter of our rectangle.
Let’s find the width of our rectangle. To do this, we compose and solve an equation with one unknown B according to the condition of our problem.
B = A – 1.2.
B = 4 – 1.2.
H = 2.8 cm.
Therefore, we get that the width of our rectangle is 2.8 cm.
Now let’s find the perimeter of our rectangle using the following formula.
P = 2 x (A + B).
P = 2 x (4 + 2.8).
P = 2 x 6.8.
P = 13.6 cm.
Thus, we get that the perimeter of our rectangle is 13.6 cm.
