Calculate the sum of the areas of the side walls of the pool – width 10 m, length 50 m, wall height 2 m.

The pool is rectangular in plan. From the conditions a = 50 m, b = 10 m. Let us denote the height by h. h = 2 m.Calculate the perimeter of the pool:

P = 2a + 2b = 2 * 50 + 2 * 10 = 120 m

Now it remains to multiply this perimeter by the height. We find out the area of the side walls:

S = P * h = 120 * 2 = 240 m²

It was possible to calculate the area of each wall separately, and then add it up. The pool has two short and two long walls. Means:

S = 2 * (a * h + b * h) = 2 * (50 * 2 + 10 * 2) = 2 * 120 = 240 m²

Answer: 240 m².
