Calculate the volume of hydrogen that will be released as a result of the interaction

Calculate the volume of hydrogen that will be released as a result of the interaction of a sufficient amount of hydrochloric acid with aluminum weighing 8.1 g.

Reaction equation:

2Al + 6HCl = 2AlCl3 + 3H2

Let’s find the amount of substance Al:

v (Al) = m (Al) / M (Al) = 8.1 / 27 = 0.3 (mol)

According to the reaction equation, 3 mol of H2 is released per 2 mol of Al,

therefore v (H2) = v (Al) * 3/2 = 0.3 * 3/2 = 0.45 (mol)

Let us find the volume of hydrogen released under normal conditions (n.o.):

V (H2) = v (H2) * Vm = 0.45 * 22.4 = 10.08 (l)
