Calculate the volume of silver that can be heated from 25 C to the melting point if 3 kg of coal were spent to heat it.

Data: t0 (initial temperature of silver) = 25 ºС; m2 (mass of coal) = 3 kg.

Constants: ρс (density of silver) = 10500 kg / m3; C (specific heat capacity of silver) = 250 J / (kg * K); tmelt (melting temperature of silver) = 961.9 ºС; q (specific heat of combustion of coal) = 2.7 * 10 ^ 7 J / kg.

The volume of heated silver can be expressed from the equality: C * ρc * V * (tm – t0) = q * m ^ 2, whence V = q * m ^ 2 / (C * ρc * (tm – t0)).

Calculation: V = 2.7 * 10 ^ 7 * 3 / (250 * 10500 * (961.9 – 25)) = 0.0329 m3 (32.9 dm3).
