In humans, the genotype that determines the formation of an organism according to the male type is formed by two different chromosomes: one is designated as X, the other as Y. They have a different structure and composition of genes. Trait genes presented in the Y – chromosome do not have the corresponding allelic genes in the X – chromosome.
The male sex of a person XY is called heterogametic, in contrast to the female sex – homogametic XX. Therefore, a man cannot be heterozygous for sex-linked characteristics.
