Can Giovanni Morelli be considered a humanist? Why?

Humanists are people who advocate for the protection of equal human rights. I believe that Giovanni Morelli, an Italian art critic who is also involved in politics, can be called a humanist for the fact that he recommends his contemporaries to reflect on the works of ancient authors.
As an art critic, he appoints a “scholarship”, calling it Morelliana. Morelli studies a lot. Among the sciences that he learns are medicine and anatomy, morphology, physiognomy and philosophy. With all this, returning to Italy, he chooses a mission for himself: to become a guide for others to introduce and explain the intellectual life adopted in the North.
