Can piston pumps operate in an airless environment?

In a space where there is no air, piston pumps will not be able to operate.

This is due to the fact that when we want to collect liquid into the pump, pressure from the atmosphere pushes it inside, i.e. pressure difference. But there will be no pressure if there is no air. Piston pumps are suction pumps, and they cannot work without a difference in pressure, the liquid in them can only come from pressure. Pressure pumps can operate without air. In a piston pump, the principle of operation is as follows – water in the tube rises behind the piston only under the action of pressure from the atmosphere, then it lifts the bottom valve and fills the pump cylinder.
