Carry out a number of transformations: Aluminum carbide – Methane – Chloromethane – Methanol – Methanal

Aluminum carbide reacts with water, it turns out – a precipitate of aluminum hydroxide and methane:
Al4C3 + 12H2O → 4Al (OH) 3 ↓ + 3CH4;

When methane interacts with chlorine, chloromethane and hydrochloric acid are formed:
CH4 + Cl2 → CH3Cl + HCl;

Chloromethane reacts with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, in the course of the presented reaction, methanol and potassium chloride are formed:
CH3Cl + KOH → CH3OH + KCl;

Methanol, when exposed to a catalyst – copper (II) oxide and temperature, forms methanal, pure copper and water:
CH3OH + [CuO] → HCOH + Cu + H2O.
