| 1) Ethylene reacts with water, as a result we get – ethanol:
C2H4 + H2O → C2H6O;
2) When ethanol interacts with copper (II) oxide, we obtain acetaldehyde, pure copper and water:
C2H5OH + CuO → CH3COH + Cu + H2O;
3) Acetaldehyde reacts with oxygen, in the course of this reaction we obtain acetic acid:
CH3COH + O2 → CH3COOH;
4) Acetic acid easily reacts with methanol, we get – methyl acetate and water:
CH3COOH + CH3OH → CH3COOCH3 + H2O.
