Causes and consequences of the reformation in Europe.

The reformation in Europe began due to the fact that the Catholic Church began to violate the biblical scriptures. The reformists demanded the restoration of the supremacy of secular power, the reduction of church land holdings and the powers of priests. They also demanded from the priests a righteous lifestyle in accordance with the biblical scriptures. In opposition to the reformation there was a counter-reformation movement. But in the end, the supporters of the reformation managed to achieve a revision of the land fund, the emergence of national churches, the supremacy of secular power over the church.
