Causes of the Northern War 1700-1721

The reasons for the Russian-Swedish war include the following factors:

1) Territorial rivalry between Russia and Sweden;

2) The desire of Peter 1 to get access to the Baltic Sea.

So at the beginning of the 18th century, a major conflict was unleashed, however, its initial stage was rather unfortunate for the Russian army, but after the reformation of the army, the situation in the war changed.
