Cell division, as a result of which there are half the number of chromosomes in the nucleus, leads to formation.

Meiosis is a way of dividing the cell nucleus, in which half the number of chromosomes remains in it than before the start of division. This is due to the fact that before the onset of meiosis, a doubling of the number of chromosomes occurs inside the nucleus. That is why chromosome studies are best done prior to division. Then the chromosomes are clearly visible in the microscope. After cell division, the process of energy restoration and preparation for the next division begins. Meiosis is the main mode of eukaryotic cell division. Prokaryotes do not have a nucleus, so meiosis is uncharacteristic for them.
